Free Flow Update December 2005

As another year draws to a close I look back at the company’s endeavors with a smile. We have celebrated our ten year anniversary to the fullest this year by remounting works from the company’s first season as well as developed new ones.

RECENT EVENTS

Table Dances – an evening of live music and dance was held in November and was a complete success! The local dance community came out in support of Free Flow Dance Theatre and showed their stuff. Thanks go to Danza Morena Latin Dance Academy, def SOL, Amber Mc Grath, Liberty Andres, Marla Duerr, Sabrina Schoenfeld, Kelly Van Damme, Sylvia Gibson and Jasmine Randall for their hard work and their terrific performances! A special thanks also go to our sponsors: the Broadway Theatre, Live Five, Liberty’s Montreal smoked meats, SNTC, Massage Therapy at the DSI, Turning the Tides Book store and the Saskatoon Pilates Training Centre.
The event was extremely well attended and the audience was highly receptive. We would like to thank those of you who bid on the dances in the silent auction and who made donations to the Vaudeville Fusion Project.

December 6th Free Flow Dance Theatre participated at the Montreal Massacre memorial service at the YWCA in Saskatoon. We presented two works including “a small piece of sky” and “Waiting” at the service. The evening was dedicated to fighting violence against women and was very touching.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE>

Saskatoon’s winter held off until the end of November this year but has now hit full force. The dancers and I have braved -30 degrees weather to make it to rehearsals and now we seem to be getting an endless amount of snow too. Despite it all we have really warmed to each other and are truly enjoying our collaborative processes. I have been learning to knit (off the internet), madly making Christmas presents and am proudly sporting a knitting callus! I am really looking forward to spending some time in Ontario this holiday season with my family and friends. I hope to see many of you while I am there. I send out my warmest holiday wishes to all of you and may you have a wonderful new year!

Dancing across the Universe,
Jackie Latendresse
