Just a little note to keep you posted on the comings and goings of Free Flow! I am now back in Saskatoon and have been going non-stop since I have returned. I arrived Thursday morning and was back to teaching Friday all day at the Greystone Heights School. It was a blast teaching the students medieval dance as they had just finished their medieval study section in history. That night I taught the first class (stretch and tone) at EGADZ and wow did we need it! Too much rest and relaxation (not to mention goodies) over the Christmas break!
I spent the holidays with family and friends near and around Toronto. It was so nice to go home and be spoiled for a while and to see all of you again! As some of you know Justin was over visiting from England, which made the holiday even better for me! We had the chance to get out cross-country skiing. It was a ton of fun as I hadn't been since high school and Justin had never been.
New year was a blast at TJ's party (complete with Karaoke and a host!) All in all it was the best Christmas break I've ever had! I want to say thanks to Kathleen Oudit and Holly and Sandy and Jim for putting us up while we were in town!
I would also like to send out a big thank you to the latest sponsors of
the Free Flow Summer Tour 2001.
Your support is much appreciated!
The Hericane Caroline festival is fast arriving! We will be presenting the new work Puppets on Tues. March 6th in Saskatoon. I will be back in Toronto by then but we hope to have a private preview at the beginning of Feb.(details to be announced)
I will be finished my work term at EGADZ on Feb. 1st and will return to Toronto shortly afterwards. In the mean time we just finished an African Dance workshop with Joseph Ashong and have an upcoming swing dance workshop with Nadine Windjack. Friday night the gang from EGADZ and I had an outing to the movies to see "Save the Last Dance" It was a very good time for all and the movie had some great dance segments as well! (hip hop and ballet what a strange combo!)
I have begun work on the second section of “3” and it is coming along well. I will be showing it as a work in progress at Language and Decadance in Toronto Feb. 16-18 at 2480 Dundas West. I will send out a reminder as the date approaches. I will also be presenting part of it at the Feb. 8:08 series in Toronto.
I have just recently been in Regina teaching Modern Dance at the Youth Ballet of Saskatchewan for 3 days. I have to say that there are some fabulous dancers there and the staff was a pleasure to work with. I also completed a full day of teaching modern and creative dance at James L. Alexander School in Saskatoon this Friday (9am-3pm) which was fun but exhausting! Where do those kids get the energy from?? For that matter where do I?
Well that is pretty much it for now. I will be looking for a place to live for 3-4 months when I get back to Toronto so if you or anyone you know is looking for a roommate let me know! (cheap is good!)
