Free Flow Update - July 2007

Recent Events:
Jackie recently took part in producing “Double Date” A sight and sound installation at the Lennox Gallery in Toronto on July 13 and 14. The Showings were met with success! The creative process began last summer when SAVAC came to Saskatoon to work with a group of artists from the AKA Gallery to present two separate Tableau Vivants. One based on an East Indian miniature painting – “The lady excuses her love bites as cat scratches” and the other on Fragonard’s “The Swing”. This year the two groups fused the paintings into one interconnected installation creating a 30 minute performance in a magical environment.

The Spring W.I.P. Opening showing was a total sold out success! Congrats go out to everyone who was involved in making it such a wonderful event! Featured Choreographers included: Newton Moraes, Eldon Pulak, Bethani Groat, Jackie Latendresse and Tina Bertoncini.

Thanks to our volunteers and also to our new series assistant Dorion! We would also like to thanks Jim and Cynthia at the Refinery for everything! Check out the photo gallery for new pictures from the showing!

Free Flow hosted a fantastic Brazilian workshop with Newton Moraes to the delight of local adult dancers. The workshop was packed full of energetic dancers who are still shouting more! More!

Once again this year on April 29th Free Flow Dance Theatre hosted its annual International Dance Day Multicultural dance celebration. Participating artists included: Newton Moraes, Free Flow Dance Theatre, Danza Morena Latin Dance Academy, Def Sol, Tilenko Hungarian Folk Ensemble, Saskatchewan Express, German Junior Folk Dancers, Scottish Country Dancers, University school of dance and Del Mundo Dance Academy. The lovely Ms. Kathy Bond hosted the event. Thanks to everyone including our sponsor Dance Saskatchewan for making it such a special day!

2 Day Modern Intensive - Jackie Latendresse hosted the intensive at the refinery Arts Centre June 23-24. Students came from all over Saskatchewan to take part in the classes. Our special guest instructors this year were Kathy Bond – Pilates for Dancers and Frank Engel – Intro to Modern Mime techniques.

Full Bloom: The Big Opening
The Rosebud Burlesque Club lead by Headmistress Cheripop Purr aka Jackie Latendresse Made its feature debut this spring with a full length program called Full Bloom.

Here are the descriptions of the cast:

The Troupe:

Head Mistress Cheripop Purr – the Dean of Tease
Mz. Purr is the founder and director of the Rosebud Academy. She is a professionally trained dancer, choreographer and instructor. Purr trained in the traditional Burlesque form with CoCo Framboise. She is known for her sexy humorous characters and her nostalgic flair.

Hellen Bedde - Giver of lip service
Hellen is one of the first graduates of the Rosebud Academy of Wayward Girls and quite an instigator! She is often found working as our cheeky Mistress of Ceremonies, putting in special guest appearances at shows and is our favorite event Bartender!

KoKo Kobra - The Girl with it all!
KoKo was born to be a burlesque star! At the tender age of 5 she presented her frilly panties to the boys in the church pew behind her at mass to the chagrin of other parishioners. She has since developed her love of near nakedness into a fine art and delights audience members at every turn! Known for her signature high kicks and wide splits, KoKo is a trained dancer who knows how to shake and shimmy!

The fever inducing - Nurse Hellina Handbasket
Ms. Handbasket has trained with the Head Mistress for several years and is also a professional dance artist. Naughty Nurse Hellina has a unique style and a smart, quirky sense of humor. A talented performer, she is also known for her beauty and modesty! Open up and say ahh!

The Naughty and Nice - Rosemary Spice
Ms. Spice is everything nice and everything naughty all rolled into one freshly baked set of buns. Her retro look and style leave us with memories of I love Lucy and Betty Boop. Rosemary is a recent graduate of the Rosebud Academy and makes her solo debut tonight!

Cotton Candy and Candy Apple – The Sugar Twins
These two ladies double your pleasure and double your fun by giving a delightfully double dipped performance every time they appear on stage. No need for dessert with these sexy twins around to satisfy your sweet tooth! Yum! Yum!

Jessi Baker – A good thing in a small package
Jessi was born and raised in a middle class catholic family and has always had the tendency of blurring the line between 'good' and 'bad'. She has featured in many bikini contests and dabbles in Jelly wrestling when she is not walking the boards the Rosebuds!

Kieran – the Butler
Our beloved and super sexy boy maid Kieran is an integral part of our troupe. We love to see this cutie dip and bend to pick up clothes that are littering the stage and so will you!

Also Featuring:
Neil Stardust- Our talented guest ragtime pianist
Rip the Strongman – He will amaze and astound you!
Jasmine and Iris Hilton – Conjoined Sensuous Dancers
Chesty La Rude and Anita Brassiere – Booby Puppeteers
Ms. Carmen Roderiquez – Glamorous Female Impersonator
