Spring has sprung and so have the dancers! Free Flow Dance has just hosted a very successful International Dance Day program on April 29th featuring 9 different cultural and artistic dance groups. This program was FREE of charge and every seat in the house was full! Thanks to our funders Sask Culture and Sask Arts Board!
Our Community workshop program has also begun and we are able to offer up to 15 FREE dance workshops this season to local not for profit organizations! If your group is interested please give us a call! This program is funded in part by The City of Saskatoon, Sask Culture/Sask Lotteries, Affinity Credit Union and Sasktel.
The company also held a free performance of “Seasons” with live poetry by Ryan Bradshaw as a part of Jane's Walk 2014 at the Farmers Market this morning which was stunning in the outdoor setting. We hope to be able to present this work in a variety of outdoor settings this summer so keep us in mind for your upcoming event.
This Friday May 9th we will be hosting a Stage Makeup Workshop from 6-9pm at the Free Flow Dance Centre. This workshop is hands on and is open to the public. The fee is $25 and all proceeds go directly to help continue our programming. Up next is the Works in Progress New Dance Series on June 28th at 8pm at the Free Flow dance centre featuring all new contemporary dance work by Free Flow Dance, Kyle Syverson, Erica Jacks and Deanne Underwood.
Update on Feed the Dancers 2014 Indiegogo campaign.
We are using crowd sourced funding to help keep, maintain and grow our programming. Government cutbacks to funding for the arts have been difficult but our audience want to see more dance! We launched our online campaign on International Dance day and we have raised 5% ($225.00) of our goal of $5000 so far! Thanks to the folks who have already made a contribution! We have also added one more fabulous perk: for each $10 contribution, you will receive a custom locally made organic lip balm from Woods Body Goods! We also have other fabulous perks including hand made cupcake bath bombs, the Rosebud Illustrated Cook Book and of course dinner with the dancers!
There is still time to contribute to this campaign to help us keep growing our programming as the campaign runs for another 40 days. You can also help by visiting the campaign page and sharing it on your social media!
Thank you for supporting Dance in Canada!
