Date: Mon, 27 Nov 2000 19:30:19 Hello once again! I am writing to let you know what I am up to now in Saskatoon. I have been quite busy lately working on "Puppets" which is the new dance piece I am choreographing for the Hericane Caroline Festival this March. I am working with three local dancers, who are terrific! The piece is coming along nicely; almost 15minutes has been completed so far! Holly and I are still waiting to hear from the P-Power performance in Chicago but our Hopes are high and our information package has been mailed in. The draw for the Edmonton fringe is this week and I am anxiously awaiting the outcome! Keep your fingers crossed for us. I would like to thank Daf and Jim Summers for sending in their donation! It was used to help fund the Edmonton Festival entrance fee. I have been working like crazy lately and have finally made enough to cover the Ottawa fringe fee, which is due in about a week! I recently was in Regina for 3 days. I was guest teaching at the University of Regina with Ann Kipling Brown and at the Conservatory of Music and Dance with Misty Wensel and Ann. I had a blast! The classes were a joy to teach and very enthusiastic. I am invited back to teach with the University this January. Last Sunday I was a special guest at Howard Coad School where I taught some medieval dance at the Save the Children Festival, which was hosted at their school. I also survived the Dare to Dance performance at the Centennial hall in Saskatoon! I was working for the festival as Assistant Stage Manager, and man was it a lot of work! I think I walked a hundred miles in 2 days! There were over 320 dancers of all ages and types for me to organize! The show was completely sold out and a huge success. Upcoming events include a full day of guest teaching at College Park school in Saskatoon ( 4 classes), as well as at Howard Coad School. I will also be instructing modern dance classes at the Youth Ballet of Saskatchewan in Regina (6 classes) this January. In the works... I will be teaching modern dance at the University of Saskatchewan in January. Of course I am still working on “3” the new work to be toured on the fringe this summer. I have begun to collect masks and props and have set the plotline for the work. The opening section has been choreographed and I am now underway! It is all quite exciting! The work I am in Saskatoon for - EGADZ - the drop in center is going very well. Some of the group performed at the coffee house at the center a few weeks ago. I am now teaching 3 classes per week at the center and there seems to be quite a bit of interest from the participants. I will be taking them to see a dance film by Laura Taler next Monday as a special treat! It should be fun. Well that is me in a nutshell right now! As you can see I have been pretty busy these past couple of months. I am sorry I haven't written more often. I would like to thank all of you for remaining fans of Free Flow and for all of the notes of encouragement that I get from you. For those of you in Toronto, I will be heading home for Christmas on Dec. 21st and I will try to call everyone while I am back. I will be in Ontario until January 8th. Dancing across the Universe, Jackie Latendresse
Hello all! I am writing to let you know that I am working on a new Project called “3”. It is a dance, spoken word and mask work performance which will hopefully be touring across Canada this summer on the Fringe Theatre Festival Circuit. This tour marks our fourth cross Canada tour! One day we hope to begin touring our work overseas as well! As you may or may not know the application fees for the 2001 festivals Are now coming due. I am relying heavily on your contributions this year as I am working in Saskatoon on an outreach program which is extremely soul satisfying work, but does not pay extremely well. Please help if you can by sponsoring a festival or making a contribution towards the entrances fees! Donations of all sizes are greatly appreciated! The first (Edmonton-$535.00) is due on November 28th, the second (Ottawa -$460.00) is Due on December 8th. The Toronto Fringe has generously been sponsored by Mr. Alan Page. Both the Winnipeg (approx. $450.00) and Saskatoon(approx. $480.00) fringes will be sending out their application forms shortly and will be due after Christmas. Thank you very much for your continued support! Sincerely,
