Recent events:

Back Alley Antics – July 22nd
Back Alley Antics was a HUGE success! Dozens of artists joined forces with Free Flow Dance Theatre to create a site specific showing of dance and performance art along the back ally ways of Broadway in Saskatoon.

Cindy Baker – performance artist – Have you seen my panties

“a small piece of sky” – August 31st – Burningman – Temple of Hope performance
A dozen dancers turned out to rehearse and perform this 1995 Free Flow repertoire piece at Burningman 2006. Past Free Flow Dance Theatre performers and students including: Dawn McLeod, Holly Treddenick, Naomi Estreicher and Ryan Sullivan participated in this performance. Clothed in white and wearing black blindfolds the dancers presented this piece at dusk at the Temple of Hope in Black Rock City Nevada. It was a hauntingly beautiful ceremonial presentation that expressed both hope and fear for the future. Thank you to all of the participants involved for making this work come to life in such a vibrant artistic environment.

Modern Dance 101 is an entertaining and educational romp through the land of contemporary dance. Designed to be fun and to promote dance literacy this new work is presented as a Theatrical faux lecture led by Professor “Ruby/Rudy Von Laban”,with live dance demonstrations by the eccentric TA's. Working through the three main elements used in dance composition, Space, Time and Force, this dance/play encorporates many aspects found in the current school dance curriculum and presents them in an easy to understand and enjoyable manner.

The company is seeking donations from visual artists. We are looking for works of art that are inspired by Contemporary Dance to auction off in the spring of 2007. The event will be in conjunction with the AKA Gallery in Saskatoon and will take place at their gallery on 20th Street. Interested artists are invited to contact us regarding their work. We welcome painters, sculptors, drawings, photographers and mixed media artists of all kinds to submit work. Artists may attend Free Flow Dance Theatre classes and rehearsals to find inspiration for their work and may request company dancers as models.

Table Dances II

Call for Choreographers of all dance styles!- We Need You! Free Flow Dance Theatre will be hosting another fundraiser this spring in Saskatoon for its professional performing company based on last year's successful Table Dances event!

We are seeking short 3 to 6 minute solo or duet works (or however many you can fit on your table…) which will use a table of some kind as inspiration for and within a dance piece. Dances can be in any style or techniques ranging from Belly Dance to Ballet. Please call Jackie at 306-665-5998 to apply for a spot. Applications are being accepted immediately and only six to ten Choreographers will be accepted so apply as soon as possible! This is a BYOT event (bring your own table) We encourage you to use any kind of table you wish, so be creative and have fun! The dance must take place on and/or around your table and must fit into a small space. (Approx. 8ft by 8 ft)

Regular Free Flow Dance Theatre Company classes will be suspended until January 2007 when I return to Saskatoon.
