Brain Body Connection Ashley Johnson

Monday, September 11, 2023 at 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Professional and emerging dancers are welcome to attend either in-person (please register as such) or the online zoom platform-based Brain-Body Connection Professional Development Series hosted by Free Flow Dance Theatre free of charge. If you would like and can afford to make a donation to support the future of the company please do! We are pleased to host this series of workshops with the support of the Community Initiative Fund and Sasktel.
Itcush Method into Dance is rooted in the study and practice of the Itcush Method as developed by Canadian dance and somatic pioneer Amelia Itcush. A truly Saskatchewan form, this practice guides the mover through a series of floor, chair and standing exercises meant to connect the internal body to an experience of dynamic posture.
Concepts like direction of energy and balancing forces are rooted in our natural capacity to learn technical practices from the inside out. Performers can expect to take home practical skills for daily movements like sitting, standing and walking as well as a way to release tight musculature and settle into our bodies as our home.
