Emotional Movement
Take part in this workshop to understand and focus on the physical cues of our emotional states. Our minds, bodies, and emotions are connected, moving, and working together. If you change a part, you change the whole. In this workshop participants will be exploring physical states that mimic emotional states. The goal is to allow participants to develop a deeper awareness of recognizing these physical cues, in order to change them for the better. We will explore moving between emotions such as grief, anger, sadness, joy, sharing, and relaxation as a starting point. Week two will continue along the same theme, building onto it an awareness of our mental thoughts. Participants will be challenged to consider their thoughts and how those thoughts are impacting their emotions and body. Stemming from CBT techniques, we will explore different thinking patterns or errors. We will consider what they represent and how to shift in and out of different thought patterns.
Coming back to body, mind, and feelings connected, this workshop explores how we can regulate, and find calm, by changing our body or our thoughts. Participants are encouraged to bring a pen, notebook, water bottle, and comfortable clothing that allows for a free range of movement. Be prepared to work in socks, barefoot, or bring indoor footwear you are comfortable dancing in.
