Congratulations to our artistic director Jackie Latendresse on winning the YWCA Women of Distinction Award for Arts, Culture and Heritage! This award is recognized nationally as one of the most prestigious awards given to women across Canada. The YWCA agencies celebrate outstanding women with this award yearly. Since 1982 YWCA Saskatoon has been proud to celebrate the best in women’s achievements in our local community across various industries and public services.
Jackie was awarded for her achievements and leadership in the Arts, Culture and Heritage sector here in Saskatoon. She has worked to make modern dance an accessible art form for diverse audiences since she founded Free Flow Dance Theatre Company in 1995 and is a passionate advocate for art literacy. She strives to deconstruct the belief that dance is solely for the cultural elite and works towards diversity, equity and accessibility in the art form.
Jackie is a strong leader, an inspiration for all women and we are so proud of her work for both Free Flow Dance Theatre and the general dance community. This is a well-deserved accomplishment. Congratulations.
